About me
I’m a young man with Down syndrome and autism who lives at home in Lowestoft with my parents and our one cat. I enjoy arts and crafts, baking, eating out, going shopping and I love the beach and the seaside. I’m looking for a kind and considerate Personal Assistant to support me on a 1:1 basis to go out in the community and encourage me to socialise with others as I find this difficult. You will also provide me with personal care when necessary. I would like my Personal Assistant to know my local area well so they can plan days out for me. I walk slowly and I sometimes need my powered wheelchair on longer walks or for longer trips. Please note, we are a non-smoking household.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
· Supporting me with personal care when necessary
· Taking me out into the community and to activities such as shopping, to the beach etc.
Personal Specification

Essential Criteria
· A valid clean driving licence and access to your own vehicle
· Previous experience in a caring/support role
· Able to work alone and without supervision
· Good communication
· Motivated, respectful and patient
· Reliable and trustworthy
· Able to safely assist with moving a powered wheelchair
Desirable Criteria
· Previous experience supporting people with Down syndrome and autism
· Knowledge of our local and surrounding area
· Like the beach and swimming/paddling
Summary terms and conditions
· Hours, days and times of work:
o 10 hours available per week
o This role is mainly for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00am until 4:00pm, however the days and/or times may need to be rearranged due to appointments
· Pay rate: £14.10 per hour
· You will be responsible to my mum and dad
· Annual leave: The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work normally done during 5.6 weeks (statutory entitlement).
· Expenses: You will be reimbursed for prior agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.
· Sick pay: I do not operate a private sick pay scheme but provided you meet the eligibility criteria, you may be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).
· Pension: I do not operate a private pension scheme but I will fulfil my statutory obligations via the NEST pension scheme.

· Background check: A satisfactory Enhanced with Barred List Disclosure and Barring Service check is required for this position.
