Help us build the next generation of dimensional control software
GEOsolutions is a specialist geospatial and survey technology company, founded by a team with decades of experience delivering complex measurement and dimensional control projects across the offshore, marine and industrial sectors.
Alongside our core survey services, we're developing the next generation of GEODC — our purpose-built dimensional control and vessel geometry management software platform.
GEODC isn't a theoretical software project. It has grown out of years of actually delivering dimensional control projects and understanding where existing software, spreadsheets and workflows make the job harder than it needs to be.
Our aim is to change that.
We're building a modern platform that brings together survey data processing, mathematical and geodetic calculations, 2D and 3D visualisation and reporting into a single intuitive environment.
We're now looking for a C# developer to help us take it to the next level.
What you'll be working on
GEODC already has a substantial C# codebase and is in active development. Your initial focus will be understanding the existing application and working with our team to move it through the next stages of development, testing and commercial deployment.
From there, you'll play an important part in shaping how the platform evolves. Working primarily in C# and Microsoft Visual Studio, you'll be developing software that:
· Imports and manages numerical and survey datasets.
· Performs mathematical, statistical and geodetic calculations.
· Handles coordinate systems, transformations and geometric relationships.
· Processes and analyses dimensional measurement data.
· Presents complex information through intuitive 2D and 3D visualisations.
· Automates workflows that have traditionally relied on multiple pieces of software and manual processing.
· Produces clear outputs and reports for engineers, surveyors and clients.
· Continues to evolve as we introduce new functionality and applications for the platform.
The problems are often mathematical, spatial and geometric in nature, so this role should particularly appeal to someone who enjoys figuring out how things work, rather than simply implementing standard business software.
You don't need to be a surveyor
We don't expect you to arrive knowing dimensional control, hydrographic surveying or geodesy. That's our job.
You'll be working directly with experienced survey professionals who can explain the mathematics, workflows and real-world problems we're trying to solve. What we're looking for is someone who can understand those problems, challenge us where appropriate, and translate them into robust and intuitive software.
An interest in maths, geometry, engineering, mapping, 3D environments or spatial data would therefore be a definite advantage.
What we're looking for
You'll need good practical experience developing applications in C#, together with familiarity with the Microsoft Visual Studio development environment. More importantly, we're looking for someone who:
· Enjoys solving difficult technical problems.
· Is comfortable working with numerical data and mathematical concepts.
· Can confidently understand and develop an existing codebase.
· Takes ownership of problems rather than waiting to be given every step of the solution.
· Is comfortable researching unfamiliar problems and finding practical solutions.
· Can troubleshoot and debug methodically.
· Communicates well with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
· Can manage their own workload and priorities.
· Wants to contribute ideas rather than simply work through a list of development tickets.
Experience in any of the following would be particularly useful:
2D/3D graphics and visualisation | Computational geometry | Geospatial or GIS applications | CAD | Engineering software | Surveying applications | Coordinate systems and transformations | Statistical/numerical computing

The opportunity:
We're recruiting at an important point in GEODC's development. For the right person, this isn't simply an opportunity to maintain an existing application. There is considerable scope to influence the architecture, user experience, functionality and future direction of the platform.
As GEODC and GEOsolutions grow, we'd like the role to grow with them. We're therefore particularly interested in finding someone who enjoys the idea of joining a product relatively early, taking genuine ownership of their work and being able to look back in a few years and say:
“I helped build that.”
Location, working pattern & salary:
The position is being offered initially on a 12-month fixed-term basis. Our intention is to use that period to accelerate GEODC through development, testing and commercial deployment. If the role and business develop as we expect, there will be an opportunity for the successful candidate to transition into a full-time permanent position at the end of the initial term.
The role will be based around our Salisbury office, with hybrid working available. We're flexible about how that balance works, although particularly while getting to know GEODC and the surveying workflows behind it, we'd expect regular time in the office working directly with the technical team.
· Full-time, initial 12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential to move into a permanent position thereafter.
· Salary: £40,000–£60,000 per annum, depending on experience and technical background.
· Hybrid working, based around our Salisbury office.
