Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Support Worker to provide personalized assistance to individuals with diverse needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supporting children and adults with disabilities, including those with autism, and possess excellent communication skills. This role involves delivering tailored care that promotes independence, safety, and well-being in a respectful manner.
Duties
- Offer one-on-one support to individuals with autism or disabilities, fostering a safe and nurturing environment.
- Assist with daily activities such as personal care, mobility, and household tasks, including toddler care when applicable.
- Implement tailored strategies to support learning, communication, and social interaction based on individual needs.
- Collaborate with families, educators, and healthcare professionals to develop and follow personalized support plans.
- Promote engagement in educational activities or recreational pursuits that enhance development and confidence.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement of support strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided, incidents, and progress updates in compliance with organizational policies.
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with autism and understanding of special education principles.
- Strong teaching abilities to facilitate learning and skill development in children or young adults.
- Proven experience working with children, including toddlers, in caregiving or educational settings.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of disability support practices and adaptive techniques for diverse needs.
- Compassionate approach combined with patience, resilience, and professionalism.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances while maintaining high standards of care.
