About Total Sports
Total Sports is a growing York-based sports and education company working with primary schools, children and young people across Yorkshire.
We deliver high-quality PE, sport, activity and enrichment programmes designed to get children active, develop their confidence and help them discover a genuine enjoyment of sport.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and energetic Sports Coach to join our team and work across primary schools in York, Tadcaster and the surrounding area.
This is a varied role where you'll work with different schools, teachers, classes and age groups throughout the week.
We're looking for someone who can deliver great sport, build strong relationships with schools and, most importantly, inspire children to be active and enjoy being part of sport.
The Role
As a Total Sports Coach, you'll deliver a range of PE and sporting activities across primary schools.
You'll be responsible for planning and delivering engaging sessions that are suitable for different ages, abilities and needs.
Your role could include:
- Delivering high-quality PE lessons from EYFS through to Year 6
- Coaching a wide range of sports and physical activities
- Delivering lunchtime sports provision
- Running after-school clubs
- Supporting school sports teams
- Delivering inter-school competitions and festivals
- Supporting sports days and special events
- Delivering enrichment and activity sessions
- Working alongside teachers to support and develop PE provision
- Encouraging less confident children to participate
- Challenging and developing more able children
- Adapting sessions to meet different abilities and needs
- Planning sessions and preparing equipment
- Building strong relationships with pupils, teachers and schools
- Representing Total Sports professionally at all times
No two days will be exactly the same.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys sport and working with children.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience coaching or working with children
- A passion for sport and physical activity
- Good communication skills
- Confidence leading groups of children
- Good behaviour-management skills
- The ability to create fun, engaging and inclusive sessions
- The ability to work independently
- Good organisation and time management
- A positive and professional attitude
- The ability to build strong relationships with schools and teachers
A recognised sports coaching, PE, teaching or equivalent qualification would be advantageous.
An Enhanced DBS check will be required.
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential, as the role involves travelling between schools.
