Summary
To deliver high-quality, person-centred care to individuals in their own homes and to lead and supervise Care Workers in the community. The Senior Care Worker ensures care delivery meets regulatory standards, promotes independence, dignity, and safeguarding, and supports the effective coordination of domiciliary care services in line with CQC requirements.
Responsibilities1. Care Delivery & Service User Support
- Provide high-quality personal care including washing, dressing, toileting, and continence support.
- Support with nutrition, hydration, and meal preparation.
- Assist with medication administration in line with policies and MAR charts.
- Support mobility including safe moving and handling.
- Promote independence, dignity, privacy, and respect.
- Monitor and report changes in health or wellbeing.
- Support social inclusion and community engagement.
2. Leadership & Staff Supervision
- Lead by example and act as a role model to Care Workers.
- Supervise and mentor staff in the field.
- Conduct spot checks, supervisions, and competency assessments.
- Support new staff induction and shadowing.
- Ensure staff adhere to care plans and organisational policies.
- Manage on-call responsibilities where required.
3. Care Planning & Reviews
- Assist in developing and reviewing care plans and risk assessments.
- Ensure care plans are person-centred and regularly updated.
- Report changes to management promptly.
- Participate in service user reviews with families and professionals.
4. Medication Management
- Administer medication safely in line with organisational policy.
- Maintain accurate MAR charts.
- Report and escalate medication errors immediately.
- Ensure medication audits are completed.
5. Safeguarding & Compliance
- Promote safeguarding and report concerns immediately.
- Ensure compliance with CQC standards.
- Follow infection control, health & safety, and risk management policies.
6. Communication & Partnership Working
- Communicate effectively with service users, families, and professionals.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals and social workers.
- Provide clear handovers and maintain accurate records.
7. Operational & Administrative Duties
- Ensure accurate daily records and care logs are maintained.
- Support audits and quality assurance processes.
Person SpecificationEssential Criteria
- Experience in domiciliary care and children care
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and medication.
- Ability to work independently in the community.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in audits and compliance.
- Full UK driving licence.
