HSE Advisor / Manager / Specialist – Data Centre Projects
Location: Istanbul, Turkey / Frankfurt–Eschborn, Germany
Engagement: Permanent employment, fixed-term employment or contractor/consultancy arrangement
Salary: £65,000–£75,000 per annum, depending on experience and scope

Serban DC is seeking an experienced HSE professional to support international hyperscale Data Centre construction projects in Istanbul and Frankfurt/Eschborn.
This role provides an immediate opportunity to lead HSE activity during the initial Istanbul project phase, with potential for ongoing advisory involvement in Istanbul and HSE management responsibility on an upcoming Frankfurt/Eschborn project.
Candidates are welcome to apply either for the wider international opportunity or solely for the initial five-month Istanbul phase. Applicants appointed solely for the Istanbul phase will be engaged on a fixed-term basis.
Project Scope
Phase 1: Istanbul Data Centre Project
Role: HSE Advisor / Manager / Specialist
Location: Istanbul, Turkey
Duration: Approximately five months, full-time and site-based
Objective: Establish the site HSE framework, align operational practices with client and international HSE standards, build a robust safety culture and support compliance from the project outset.
Accommodation and relevant travel for the Istanbul phase will be provided, including one home-leave return trip during the assignment.
Phase 2: Istanbul Data Centre Project – Ongoing Advisory Support
Duration: Approximately two-year project duration
Commitment: Approximately four to six days per month, through on-site and/or hybrid support
Objective: Conduct periodic audits, review safety compliance, mentor local site personnel and ensure the continued effectiveness of established HSE standards.
Phase 3: Frankfurt / Eschborn Data Centre Project
Location: Frankfurt/Eschborn, Germany
Duration: Approximately two years
Objective: Take responsibility for site HSE management, lead safety activity, manage client HSE requirements and maintain high regulatory and international HSE standards.
To support relocation to Frankfurt/Eschborn, accommodation for up to 15 days will be provided at the start of the assignment, allowing time to secure longer-term accommodation.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and standardise HSE policies, guidelines and procedures for hyperscale Data Centre construction projects.
- Ensure compliance with applicable local health, safety and environmental requirements, client standards and international HSE best practice.
- Lead site inspections, audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
- Supervise subcontractors and site personnel to ensure adherence to safe systems of work, including risk assessments, method statements and permit-to-work systems.
- Lead incident and near-miss investigations, root-cause analyses and corrective-action implementation.
- Report to senior management and clients on HSE KPIs, statistics, audit findings and compliance performance.
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and targeted HSE training sessions.
- Mentor local safety personnel to help maintain high standards during periods of non-site support.
- Build effective working relationships with clients, project teams, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
About You
- Proven experience as an HSE Advisor, HSE Manager, HSE Specialist or similar role on large-scale construction, infrastructure or Data Centre projects.
- Data Centre construction experience is highly desirable.
- Experience working with major international clients or operators is desirable.
- A recognised health and safety qualification, such as NEBOSH International Diploma, NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH membership or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of HSE management systems, risk management, auditing and site safety leadership.
- Experience of incident investigation, root-cause analysis and corrective-action management.
- Excellent English communication, reporting and stakeholder-management skills.
- Willingness to travel and work flexibly between Istanbul, Frankfurt/Eschborn and the UK, as required.
Contractor and consultancy applications are welcome. The day rate and engagement terms will be agreed based on experience and assignment scope.
Visa and work-permit support can be provided where required.
