Location: Canning Town & Bermondsey (multiple creative studio buildings)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
About Us
We are a growing creative workspace business providing high-quality studios to musicians, artists, beauty professionals and creative businesses across East London.
Our buildings are home to over 140 independent businesses, and we pride ourselves on creating professional, well-maintained spaces where our members can focus on growing their own businesses.
We are now looking for an organised, proactive and hands-on Building Manager to join our management team.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You'll be involved in everything from building inspections and contractor management to member support, health & safety and operational improvements. You'll work closely with the General Manager and gradually take ownership of the day-to-day running of the buildings.
The Role
As Building Manager, you will help ensure our buildings remain safe, welcoming, efficient and exceptionally well maintained.
You'll become a key point of contact for our studio members, coordinate maintenance works, oversee contractors and cleaners, carry out inspections, and help ensure the smooth operation of multiple creative studio buildings.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in high standards, and likes being involved in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily building inspections and maintain high presentation standards.
- Ensure communal areas remain clean, safe and well maintained.
- Respond to maintenance issues and coordinate contractors.
- Build positive relationships with studio members and assist with day-to-day enquiries.
- Help oversee cleaning standards and monitor contractor performance.
- Carry out routine health & safety and compliance checks.
- Maintain accurate building records and operational documentation.
- Assist with studio move-ins, move-outs and inspections.
- Support occupancy, maintenance and improvement projects.
- Liaise with suppliers and service providers.
- Assist with general building administration and reporting.
- Identify issues proactively and recommend improvements.
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership and genuinely cares about doing a great job.
You'll be confident working independently, organised under pressure and comfortable communicating with a wide range of people.
Essential
- Previous experience within building management, facilities management, property management, serviced offices, hospitality or a similar operational role.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Practical, hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail.
- Professional, reliable and trustworthy.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
What We Offer
- A varied role where every day is different.
- Supportive management team.
- Real responsibility and autonomy.
- Ongoing training and professional development.
- A creative and friendly working environment.
We're Looking For Someone Who
- Notices the little things before anyone else does.
- Enjoys solving problems.
- Takes pride in keeping buildings running smoothly.
- Is approachable, professional and calm under pressure.
- Can build great relationships with members, contractors and colleagues.
- Wants to grow with a long-term business rather than simply do a job.
If you're someone who enjoys making things run efficiently and wants to play an important role in a growing business, we'd love to hear from you.
