Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager
Bamboo Sky | Bourn, Cambridgeshire
Full-time | £30,000–£32,000 + service charge (typically £80-£100 per week)
Come and help us run something a little different.
Bamboo Sky is an independent Thai restaurant and destination venue in the Cambridgeshire countryside. With glowing reviews and feedback, it's genuinely a lovely place to be a part of the service experience.
Alongside our restaurant and bar, we have private dining domes, gardens and terraces and host everything from busy weekend services to afternoon teas, celebrations, weddings and events.
We're growing so we're looking for an experienced, energetic Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager to join our small management team and work closely with our Manager and Owner.
We're a hands-on independent business, so you'll be running services, leading the team, looking after guests, jumping behind the bar when needed and helping make sure the whole operation runs brilliantly.
What you'll be doing
- Leading and motivating our front-of-house team during service
- Helping manage the day-to-day running of the restaurant and bar
- Delivering warm, memorable hospitality and excellent guest experiences
- Training, coaching and supporting team members
- Keeping communication flowing between restaurant, bar and kitchen
- Handling guest enquiries and resolving problems confidently
- Supporting opening, closing, cashing-up and stock procedures
- Helping manage the bar and cellar
- Maintaining excellent hygiene, licensing and health & safety standards
- Using our EPOS, booking and operational systems
- Working with the Manager and owner to continually improve and grow the business
- Bringing new ideas to the business
Who we're looking for
You'll already have strong restaurant or hospitality experience, including experience supervising or managing a team.
You'll be confident running a busy service, comfortable behind a bar and, most importantly, you'll genuinely love looking after people.
We're also looking for someone who is:
- Warm, confident and great with guests
- Organised, reliable and able to use their own initiative
- A strong team leader who isn't afraid to get stuck in
- An eye for presentation and detail
- Comfortable using technology and learning new systems
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Looking for a role where they can take real responsibility and make a difference
Experience with EPOS and restaurant management systems is desirable. Familiarity with Canva and/or social media would be a great bonus, but isn't essential.
You'll need your own reliable transport to get to and from Bamboo Sky, as our countryside location and working hours mean public transport isn't a practical option.
Hours
This is a full-time hospitality role. 48 hours per week with shifts across Tuesday–Sunday, including evenings and weekends.
Mondays are always off, with additional time off scheduled during the week (including the odd weekend).
The package
£30,000-£32,000 salary, depending on experience
Plus service charge typically £80-£100 per week
Plus:

If you're an experienced hospitality professional who loves great service, enjoys leading people and fancies being part of a growing independent restaurant that's a little out of the ordinary, we'd love to hear from you.
