We are working in partnership with a highly regarded secondary school to appoint a Head of Department – Science from September 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and talented Science teacher ready to step into middle leadership, or for an existing second-in-department or Key Stage leader seeking a fresh challenge within a supportive and high-expectations environment.
The Role
As Head of Department – Science, you will work closely with the Head of Department to support the leadership and development of a successful Science team.
You will take responsibility for a designated Key Stage alongside leading on a key departmental priority area such as:
- Teaching & Learning
- Curriculum Development
- Staff Development & Coaching
- Assessment & Progress
You will help drive outstanding teaching and learning, improve pupil outcomes across the department, and contribute to a culture of high expectations and academic excellence.

About You
We are looking for an excellent Science teacher who:
- Has strong subject knowledge across KS3–KS5 (all sciences)
- Has a proven track record of delivering high-quality teaching and strong pupil outcomes
- Can use data effectively to improve progress and attainment
- Has excellent communication and leadership potential
- Is passionate about developing staff and supporting colleagues
- Thrives in a collaborative and ambitious environment
