We are recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our partnered Mainstream primary school settings in Mile End. This Full time, Long Term, term time only position is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and wants to make a genuine difference every day.
This welcoming Mainstream primary school in Mile End provides an inclusive learning environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support Year 4 pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Learning Difficulties (LD), and students who are non-verbal. You will be working both on a 1:1 basis and with small intervention groups, helping pupils to access learning and build confidence across the curriculum.

The Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant Will Have:
- Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant
- Experience supporting children with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, and Learning Difficulties
- Experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Care Worker, or Support Worker
- Confidence supporting non-verbal pupils
- Knowledge of PECS, Phonics, or Makaton (desirable)
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A willingness to provide personal care when required
- A genuine passion for helping children succeed
Daily Duties:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for Year 4 pupils with additional needs
- Delivering small group interventions to support learning and social development
- Supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, and Learning Difficulties throughout the school day
- Assisting non-verbal students using PECS, Makaton, visual aids, and communication strategies where appropriate
- Supporting phonics, literacy, numeracy, and classroom learning activities
- Promoting independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
- Assisting with personal care in a respectful and dignified manner when required
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents
- Monitoring pupil progress and providing regular feedback to teaching staff
- Helping create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
