An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced small animal surgeon to join Gainsborough Referrals as Clinical Director leading and developing our orthopaedic referral service within a well-equipped, independent referral hospital in Lincolnshire.
We are looking for an ECVS/ACVS Diplomate or board-eligible surgeon. Candidates with an orthopaedic bias and the ability or interest to contribute to soft tissue surgery would be especially welcome along with the ability to perform hemilaminectomy and other spinal procedures.
Gainsborough Referrals is an independent veterinary referral hospital based in the historic town of Gainsborough, within easy reach of Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire. Our services include orthopaedics, neurology and soft tissue surgery.
The role
The successful candidate will take clinical leadership of our surgical service, managing a varied and rewarding referral caseload. Depending on experience and interests, this may include:
- Advanced fracture management
- TPLO and other stifle procedures
- Corrective osteotomies (including 3D printing assistance)
- Arthroscopy and joint surgery
- Total hip replacement (Kyon)
- Complex lameness investigation
- Selected spinal/neurosurgical cases, if appropriate
- Soft tissue procedures, where this matches the candidate’s skills and interests
The role offers genuine clinical autonomy, the opportunity to shape the development of the service, and the chance to work closely with a supportive team of clinicians, nurses and administrative colleagues. You will also contribute to case discussions, clinical governance, mentoring and the continued development of our referral offering.
