An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated leader to join North Yorkshire's Youth Justice Service as a Team Manager.
About the Service
The Youth Justice Service is a well-established partnership involving colleagues from Children's Services, Police, Probation, Health and other key agencies. As Team Manager, you will lead and support Practice Managers and a diverse team of professionals to deliver high-quality interventions, ensure effective risk management, and maintain compliance with national standards and inspection requirements.
About the role
This is a key leadership role within Children and Families Early Help, providing operational management and strategic direction across a multi-disciplinary service committed to preventing offending, safeguarding children, protecting the public, and improving outcomes for children in conflict with the law.
Working closely with senior leaders and strategic partners, you will drive service improvement, performance management and innovation across the service. You will chair complex multi-agency meetings, provide oversight of high-risk and vulnerable cases, and contribute to the development of youth justice policy, strategy and practice across North Yorkshire.
You will be an accomplished manager with substantial experience of working within youth justice, children's services, probation or a related field. You will bring a strong understanding of youth justice legislation, risk assessment and safeguarding, coupled with proven experience of leading staff, managing performance and developing effective partnerships.
Do you have:
- Significant knowledge of youth justice legislation, criminal justice processes and safeguarding practice.
- Extensive leadership and management experience within a statutory or multi-agency environment.
- Experience to lead and motivate teams to achieve excellent outcomes for children, families and communities.
- Skills in managing complex risk, performance and service improvement activity.
- The ability to build positive and effective relationships with a wide range of partners and stakeholders.
- A commitment to restorative, child-centred and strengths-based practice.
Then we’d like to hear from you
It is an exciting time in Children and Young Peoples Services in North Yorkshire as we plan our approach in respect of the Families First Partnership Programme and how we will be responding to the social care reforms. Work is underway to plan our approach and implementations for 2027. As a result of this, some realignment may happen with job roles in the future, we want to be transparent about this in respect of this role.
We support hybrid working, allowing you to work remotely from a range of locations, including home, while ensuring the best possible outcomes for children, families, victims, and communities.
