CLS Contract Labour Solutions is supporting a leading UK civils contractor as they look for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to join their team on a major construction project. This is an excellent opportunity for you to take responsibility for the financial and commercial management of a significant project, working closely with the wider project team and client.
Salary: £70,000 – £85,000 + benefit
£5,000 car allowance
£1,300 lodging allowance
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing the commercial performance of the project from pre-construction through to completion.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the commercial and financial aspects of the project.
- Monitoring project costs, budgets, forecasts and expenditure.
- Preparing and managing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
- Managing subcontractor accounts, payments, variations and commercial negotiations.
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
- Preparing accurate cost reports and financial forecasts.
- Managing change control and ensuring variations are properly valued and recorded.
- Supporting procurement and subcontractor selection.
- Working closely with the Project Manager, site team, client and supply chain.
- Ensuring contractual obligations and commercial procedures are followed.
- Providing commercial advice and support to the project team.
- Assisting with the successful commercial delivery of the project through to final account.
About You:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in construction and proven experience managing the commercial aspects of major projects.
You should have:
- Significant experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
- Previous experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor level.
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.
- Experience managing subcontractor packages and accounts.
- Excellent cost control, forecasting and reporting skills.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider project team.
- A relevant Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or construction-related qualification is desirable.
- P4 Pass is preferred.
