We truly do things differently here at the niu. Our team work in a relaxed atmosphere, free of many of the corporate trappings found in most hotels. You may not have heard of us before but we are part of Novum Hotels UK - the UK arm of Novum Hospitality based at our headquarters in Hamburg, Germany and we have launched as the first 'the niu' hotel in the country, so we truly are breaking ground as we expand the group. We are a family-owned operation and this family-orientated ethos runs right through the company from Company Directors through to the guests themselves. This also means that our teams get to enjoy discounted staff rate stays at all the hotels in the group - we have over 300 hotels in Europe so you wont be short of holiday destinations either!
the niu itself is a new brand founded on high quality, personable service. We ditched the corporate scripts, the complicated processes and streamlined our operation to ensure our teams can do what they do best - engage with guests in an environment that is relaxed, homely and everyone is treated like a member of our family. Think less 'Good Morning Sir' and more 'How are you doing?'. Our rooms have rainfall showers, international plug sockets and even smart TV's and bluetooth speakers that guests can cast to. We truly are pushing forward with the new style of hospitality.
This role will see you working across four areas of the operation with a mix of shifts between Front Office, Restaurant, Bar and Breakfast. This ensures you have the chance to broaden your skill set in areas that may not be so familiar to you and applications from all backgrounds are considered. We will give you training in all aspects of the operation and you will be joining a lively team that truly thrive on making guest stays great as we relaunch our evening dining concept.
Front Office deal with guest queries, checking people in and out, updating other teams such as housekeeping and being all round entertainment for guests. We use Hotel key as our front office system but we can train you fully in this.
Within the restaurant and Bar operations the main task is making sure guests receive quality food and great experiences with food preparation required, so you must be confident preparing basic meals (we are not aiming for a Michelin Star). We don't have a huge wine list, no complicated meals and no complex cocktails - we do simplicity, but with style. Oh, and did we mention that if something isn't working, we simply change it!
Breakfast wise, you will be asked to clear tables and refill the items when emptied (nothing Complicated). You will also be asked to cook breakfast but don't worry, full training is provided.
The shifts are 8 hours, any 5 days a week with 2 days off.
We also do our best to ensure you are comfortable and looked after in your role - the uniform is jeans, trainers and shirt, we provide meals on duty (and not just jacket potato and beans). Most importantly we let you, be you!
