We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join a growing Variable Works team supporting the delivery of high-volume projects across a major UK government estate. This is an opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of refurbishment, HVAC, fit-out, asset replacement, and building improvement projects across a large estate.
Job Description
We are looking for a proactive project professional who enjoys coordinating multiple workstreams, engaging with stakeholders, and travelling regularly to sites to support safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery. The role offers a hybrid/mobile working arrangement with the flexibility to be based across the UK
Key Responsibilities
Support Project Managers with the planning, coordination, and delivery of projects across a large UK-wide government estate.
Coordinate multiple project workstreams and supply chain partners to ensure successful project execution.
Manage high-volume, lower-value projects including HVAC works, fit-outs, fabric projects, and building alterations.
Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Monitor project risks and support the implementation of effective mitigation measures.
Lead or contribute to project meetings, audits, reviews, and reporting activities.
Conduct site visits, audits, contractor monitoring activities, and site inductions across the UK.
Prepare project updates, forecasts, and stakeholder reports while ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and health & safety requirements.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
Skills and Experience
Experience coordinating and delivering construction, M&E, fit-out, building services, or similar projects.
Proven experience supporting project delivery within construction, facilities management, or related environments.
Strong understanding of construction processes and project delivery methodologies.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain partners.
Proficiency with project management software and reporting tools.
Understanding of NEC4 contracts is desirable.
Qualifications
CSCS Card required.
Black CSCS Card highly desirable.
SSSTS or SMSTS preferred.
