Job Overview
As a Mechanical Fitter at MEC, you will be responsible for carrying out mechanical installation works across a range of commercial and industrial projects throughout the South West.
Working under the direction of the Mechanical Contracts Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Responsibilities
- Install a wide range of mechanical building services systems to the highest industry standards, including:
- Chilled water systems
- Interpret and work from mechanical drawings, schematics, specifications and technical documentation.
- Install pipework and mechanical equipment using a variety of materials and jointing methods to meet project specifications.
- Carry out installations in accordance with MEC's high standards of quality, safety and workmanship.
- Ensure all work complies with current legislation, British Standards, client specifications and company procedures.
- Work safely at all times, following approved Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and site health & safety requirements.
- Liaise effectively with Site Supervisors, Project Managers, Engineers, subcontractors and other trades to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Identify and report design issues, installation clashes or potential improvements to site management.
- Support pressure testing, flushing, chlorination, commissioning and system handovers as required.
- Carry out snagging works and ensure installations are completed to a high standard before handover.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping, ensuring work areas remain clean, organised and safe throughout the project.
- Complete site documentation, quality records and installation reports accurately and on time.
- Represent MEC professionally on client sites, maintaining excellent standards of workmanship, conduct and customer service.
- Heating and low-temperature hot water (LTHW) systems
- Domestic hot and cold water services
- Compressed air systems
- Plant room installations
- Pumps, valves and associated pipework
- Ventilation and ductwork systems
- Pressurisation units, expansion vessels and ancillary mechanical equipment
- General mechanical building services installations
Skills & Experience - Essential
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Mechanical Engineering Services or equivalent
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter or Pipefitter within commercial or industrial environments.
- Strong understanding of mechanical building services installations.
- Ability to read and work from drawings and specifications.
- Good understanding of health & safety requirements.
- CSCS Card.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
Pay: £45,752.85 per year
