Part Time – Approx. 25–30 hours per week
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Supervisor / Café Chef to join our team.
This is a genuine hybrid role, combining hands-on kitchen work with the responsibilities of a café supervisor. The successful candidate will primarily work as the chef on most of their shifts, so previous kitchen experience and the ability to confidently prepare and cook food independently are essential.
Alongside kitchen duties, you will also take responsibility for the café when required, including keyholding, closing the premises and cashing up.
As a small café team, everyone helps where needed, so there will also be occasions where you work front of house making coffees and other drinks, taking orders and using the till, running food and providing friendly customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing, cooking and presenting food to a consistent standard
- Managing the kitchen during your shifts and ensuring orders are completed efficiently
- Following food hygiene, allergen and health & safety procedures
- Completing kitchen opening, closing and cleaning procedures
- Acting as a keyholder and taking responsibility for opening/closing the café when required
- Completing end-of-day cashing up and till procedures
- Serving customers and operating the till
- Preparing coffees and other drinks
- Running food and supporting the front-of-house team during busy periods
- Supervising the café and supporting other team members when required
- Ensuring high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the café
- Helping create a friendly, welcoming environment for our customers
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous professional kitchen/cooking experience – this is essential
- Is confident working independently in a café kitchen
- Is comfortable taking responsibility for a shift and being a keyholder

- Is happy working across both kitchen and front-of-house duties
- Is comfortable handling cash and completing end-of-day cashing up
- Has good customer service and communication skills
- Can remain calm and organised during busy periods
- Is flexible and willing to help wherever needed as part of a small team
Previous supervisory or keyholding experience would be beneficial, although we are happy to support the right experienced chef in developing this side of the role.
Hours
This is a part-time position of approximately 25–30 hours per week.
Hours will be worked according to the needs of the café and will include a mixture of kitchen and supervisory responsibilities.
This role would suit an experienced café chef or kitchen all-rounder who enjoys variety and is comfortable taking responsibility for the wider operation of the café rather than working solely behind the scenes.
Pay: £11.10-£12.96 per hour
Benefits:
- Employee discount
- On-site parking
Work Location: In person
