Job Title: HGV Lorry Driver (Class 2 / Category C)
Location: Old Dalby, Leicestershire

Shift: 07:00am - 17:00pm, includes a 45 minutes unpaid lunch break.

We are looking for a reliable and customer-focused HGV Lorry Driver to join our delivery team. You will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of frozen raw pet food products to our trade customers across our delivery routes. When your run is complete and time permits, you will support the production team on-site until the end of the shift.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role. You will be the face of Bulmers on the road and will be expected to represent the business professionally at every delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive our 26-tonne rigid refrigerated/freezer lorry on scheduled daily delivery routes, departing site at 07:00.
- Deliver frozen raw pet food products to trade customers, ensuring all deliveries are completed accurately and on time.
- Unload and handle deliveries yourself at each customer’s premises, including moving pallets and boxes using a pallet truck. This is a physical role — customers do not have warehouse teams, so you will be expected to manage all offloading independently.
- Maintain professional, courteous conduct with all customers — you are the primary point of contact for many of our trade accounts on delivery days.
- Complete all relevant paperwork, delivery notes, and PODs accurately.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks (walk-around inspections) and report any defects, faults or safety concerns promptly.
- Ensure the vehicle, refrigeration unit and load integrity are maintained throughout the route.
- Adhere to all drivers’ hours regulations, tachograph requirements, and road transport legislation.
- On return to site, support production activities as directed by the site manager until the end of shift at 17:00, subject to route completion time.
- Maintain a clean and organised vehicle at all times.
Requirements
- Valid Category C (Class 2) HGV driving licence — essential.
- Valid Driver CPC qualification card — essential.
- Valid digital tachograph card — essential.
- Clean or near-clean driving licence (no more than 3 points).
- Proven experience driving 26-tonne rigid vehicles, ideally in a multi-drop delivery environment.
- Confident and professional when dealing directly with trade customers and business owners.
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling — this role involves regular lifting, moving and stacking of boxes and pallets at customer premises without additional assistance.
- Comfortable operating a pallet truck and manoeuvring loads in tight spaces.
- Strong time management and route discipline — early morning starts and route efficiency are important.
- Reliable, punctual and self-motivated.
- Experience working in a food, FMCG or chilled/frozen distribution environment is desirable but not essential.
- Own transport is essential due to the location and early start time.
