Job Overview
We are a well-established, business specialising in the sale, hire, servicing, repair, and maintenance of forklift trucks based in South Essex.
We are looking for an organised, proactive and customer-focused Transport Controller to join our busy office team.
Main Responsibilities
- Transport
- Plan and coordinate deliveries and collections of forklift trucks.
- Book transport with internal and external providers.
- Prepare delivery documentation.
- Issue daily transport schedules to the relevant departments.
- Keep customers informed of delivery and collection times.
- Maintain transport records and ensure transport is invoiced accurately.
Hire Administration
- Handle incoming hire enquiries.
- Prepare hire quotations.
- Produce hire contracts and associated documentation.
- Coordinate deliveries and collections with customers.
- Monitor ongoing hires and chase updated purchase orders where required.
- Complete hire invoicing.
Sales & Service Support
- Prepare equipment quotations.
- Create and update maintenance contracts.
- Maintain customer fleet records and reports.
- Upload equipment information to manufacturer portals and industry websites.
- Take and maintain equipment photographs prior to delivery.
- Support the service department with equipment administration and logistics.
The ideal candidate will be a team player and will have the opportunity to make this role their own. This is a key role in our business.
You will already ideally have:
- Previous experience within hire, transport, logistics, service coordination, or fleet administration.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- A confident telephone manner.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office. Experience with CRM or business management systems would be advantageous.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- The ability to work effectively within a busy office environment as part of a close-knit team.
- A proactive attitude with strong problem-solving skills.
Experience within the forklift, plant, commercial vehicle or materials handling industry would be advantageous but is not essential, as product training will be provided.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, personable and enjoys building strong relationships with both customers and colleagues.
You will be based in our modern offices in Thurrock.
Hours: Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 5:00pm | Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm
Salary depending on experience and in the range of £33 - £40K
Pay: £33,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
