AME Trade Ltd is one of the leading event organisers dedicated to Africa. Every year we stage more than ten major conferences and exhibitions across the mining, oil & gas, energy and finance sectors — the rooms where deals get done and industries take shape. Now we want a hungry, charismatic salesperson to help us fill them.
This isn’t a desk-bound, read-from-a-script sales job. You’ll open doors, build relationships across an entire continent, and travel to the events you helped sell. If you love the thrill of the close, the buzz of a packed exhibition floor, and the idea of building a career in international B2B sales, keep reading.
Above all, you must have a genuine passion for African politics, economics and culture. This is the heart of everything we do — our clients live and breathe these markets, and you’ll need to as well. The candidates who thrive at AME Trade are the ones who follow the continent’s industries, politics and stories with real curiosity and enthusiasm.
Salary £24,000 , plus commission. Realistic OTE £35,000 per annum.
What You’ll Be Doing
▸ Building and executing sales plans that win new clients and grow revenue across our conference and exhibition portfolio
▸ Hitting the phones, meeting clients, and travelling to destinations near and far on sales trips
▸ Owning your accounts — keeping clients happy, loyal and coming back year after year
▸ Generating your own leads and tracking every interaction in our CRM (Pipedrive)
▸ Negotiating contracts, pricing and terms to close deals fast while protecting margin
▸ Teaming up with marketing to launch targeted B2B campaigns that fuel the pipeline
▸ Keeping sharp records of activity, conversations and market intel to sharpen our strategy
▸ Upselling extra services and stand space to squeeze the most from every opportunity
▸ Delivering standout service from first hello to post-event follow-up
▸ Representing AME Trade on site at our events — professional, polished and unmistakably ours
What You’ll Bring
▸ A track record in B2B, outside or technical sales — ideally within conferences, exhibitions or event management
▸ Fluent written and spoken English (essential). French or Portuguese is a serious bonus
▸ Six months to two years in media sales or a closely related field
▸ A basic grasp of emerging-market geography and politics — and a curiosity to learn more
▸ A genuine passion for African politics, economics and culture — this is essential, not a nice-to-have
▸ Confidence with CRM tools such as Pipedrive for tracking leads and reading the data
▸ Sharp negotiation skills and a genuinely customer-first mindset
▸ Proven wins in direct sales, cold calling, inside sales and territory management
▸ Strong organisation and an eye for detail across many accounts at once
▸ Project-management instincts — you’ll coordinate across teams and departments
▸ Above all: initiative. You chase your own leads and create your own opportunities
