Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 10 and above (currently £30,030 per annum / £16.50 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.
Job purpose/about the role
Competency based learning to ensure service users receive high quality care and support delivery whist working as part of a team. Attend training to learn how to contribute to the service users’ social, physical and mental wellbeing. This will enable the service user to enjoy meaningful engagement support.
This post is encompassed in the Modern Apprenticeship Programme and jobholders will be required to complete Social Services and Healthcare SCQF Level 6
6 x 18 month care apprenticeships available, 35 hours per week
The Modern Apprenticeship Programme is targeted at building our workforce of the future. Funding for training is available for applicants aged 16-19 and 20-24 (depending on the framework) and for disabled and care-experienced applicants between the age of 16-29. Please ensure, if you are applying for a Modern Apprentice post, that you meet one of these criteria.
- Must be able to produce high quality written reports.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme Record (PVG).
- To have registered or undertake registration with the SSSC within 3 months of starting the post and maintain the registration requirements.
- Good practice; recognising the support needs of adults; specifically promoting dignity, respect and promotion of independent living and exhibit unconditional positive regard.
- Ability to communicate effectively with service users, staff, carers and internal/ external professionals to achieve improved outcomes for service users.
- Ability to provide guidance and support.
- Attention to detail; specifically, around the administration of service users’ medication, and recording.
- The ability to operate as a member of a team and take responsibility for the environment and the safety of service users.
- The ability to attend and participate in staff meetings, supporting performance meetings, and to participate in developing team plans
- The ability to work in partnership with families.
- Ability to provide personal care to a range of people with support needs
- Move and Handle both people and objects in a safe manner.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as a member of a team.
- Ability to give and receive feedback.
