Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our care home team as a cook. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality meal services to residents, ensuring their nutritional needs are met with care and professionalism. Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious meals tailored to residents’ dietary requirements
- Assist with meal planning and portion control to ensure balanced nutrition
- Serve meals in a courteous and professional manner, maintaining high standards.
- Ensure all food preparation areas comply with health and safety regulations, including food safety standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and dining areas before, during, and after service
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies, notifying management when replenishments are needed
- Follow all hygiene protocols to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety compliance
- Support other team members during busy periods or special events as required
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen roles is highly desirable
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices within a care home or restaurant environment
- Proven ability to prepare meals efficiently while maintaining quality standards
- Experience in meal planning, portion control, and dietary considerations for vulnerable populations is advantageous
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and a friendly demeanour when interacting with residents and team members
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends or holidays if necessary
