The Opportunity
Are you a highly meticulous, problem-solving engineer looking for a premium field role where your attention to detail is recognized and financially rewarded?
Avant Movable Walls is a rapidly growing UK specialist in operable partition systems. We design, deploy, and maintain high-end movable wall systems across prestigious corporate offices, luxury hotels, schools, universities, and major commercial developments nationwide.
We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated Lead Service & Installation Engineer based within a commutable distance of Runcorn. This is a highly autonomous role where you will be trusted to manage your own workload and travel schedule, delivering world-class craftsmanship while pocketing a lucrative performance-related commission that can quickly elevate your earnings past £55k.
The Role
This is a diverse, hands-on mechanical position. You will step onto a mixture of active construction sites and premium, fully occupied finished buildings, overseeing the complete lifecycle of our partition systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation & Commissioning: Lead the hands-on installation and final commissioning of complex movable walls, ensuring smooth operation according to strict technical drawings.
- Diagnostics & Maintenance: Fault-find mechanical alignment issues, executing repairs, tracking adjustments, and replacing worn components on existing customer systems.
- Elite Property Protection: Meticulously assess workspace risks before tools leave the van. Protect surrounding high-end finishes (glazing, carpets, furniture, ceilings) and record any existing pre-work site conditions photographically.
- Surveying & Commercial Awareness: Execute onsite surveys to identify system vulnerabilities, suggesting repair or upgrade opportunities to clients to drive bonus revenue.
- Compliance & Documentation: Maintain precise digital service reports, record dynamic site risk assessments, and follow corporate RAMS guidelines to ensure flawless health and safety tracking.
- Team Leadership: Represent the brand with exceptional customer service and mentor junior engineers as our field team continues to expand.
Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience servicing and installing mechanical systems, or a proven track record within a transferable precision trade (e.g., commercial shopfitting, automated door networks, high-end carpentry, or partition systems). Prior movable wall experience is a massive advantage.
- Certifications: Valid CSCS Card is mandatory. An active SSSTS qualification is highly preferred (or a total willingness to undergo company-funded training).
- Technical Literacy: Fully competent in reading construction blueprints and technical engineering schematics.
- Logistics: Full UK Driving Licence, a base near Runcorn, and complete flexibility to undertake nationwide travel with regular overnight stays.
- Attributes: High emotional intelligence for client management, exceptional manual handling techniques, and a clean, organized work ethic.
What We Offer
- High Earning Potential: Strong basic salary reaching up to £48,000, complemented by an active commission structure that rewards service efficiency and parts upselling to push your OTE to £55,000.
- Zero Out-of-Pocket Expenses: We completely remove financial friction. All hotel stays, meals, business travel, and fuel costs are paid for directly by the company on your behalf.
- Professional Longevity: Receive ongoing manufacturer-backed technical training to solidify your status as an accredited specialist, with a clear career pathway into senior area management.
