Job Summary
Dressability is a local charity that helps people with disabilities, limited dexterity and long-term health conditions by adapting clothing to make it more comfortable, practical and accessible. We're looking for a skilled Dressmaker to join our friendly team.
In this rewarding role, you'll carry out a range of clothing alterations and adaptations, working closely with clients to understand their needs and create practical solutions that help them live more independently and confidently.
Who we are looking for
We're looking for someone with comprehensive sewing experience that evidences strong machine and hand sewing skills and confidence with a range of dressmaking techniques. You’ll have:
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of finish (essential)
- Great communication skills (essential)
- A caring and empathetic approach (essential)
- A full driving licence with access to your own vehicle (essential)
- Prior experience sewing in a professional capacity (desirable)

Duties
- Consult with clients to understand their challenges and recommend adaptations.
- Sew garment alterations and adaptations in line with Dressability standards.
- Utilise a range of sewing machines and hand sewing techniques.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace, following health and safety guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding progress and delivery timelines.
- Collaborate with team members to prioritise and deliver client work to a high standard within agreed timescales
