Introduction
MECOPP is Scotland’s leading Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) carers’ organisation, providing a range of care and support services to people from BME and other marginalised communities. We lead work to address systemic inequalities and improve access to culturally appropriate support for minority ethnic carers across Scotland.
About the Role
The Impact Worker will play a key role in delivering MECOPP’s I-Impact Project, designed to address systemic inequalities experienced by minority ethnic carers.
Working directly within Carers Centres and alongside local authorities and community partners, the Impact Worker will act as a catalyst for organisational change. The role focuses on identifying systemic barriers, co-developing solutions, and embedding culturally competent, inclusive and sustainable practices.
This role is central to driving long-term change and ensuring minority ethnic carers are visible, supported, and included within mainstream services.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct organisational audits to identify systemic barriers
- Support development and implementation of action plans
- Build and maintain partnerships with carers centres, local authorities, and BME organisations
- Act as a bridge between services and minority ethnic communities
- Engage carers through co-production approaches
- Facilitate peer learning and learning sets across partner organisations
- Develop tools, resources and guidance to support sustainable change
- Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and learning
- Identify and escalate systemic issues to inform wider policy and practice
Conditions of Service:
● Annual holidays – 25 days plus 2 floating days plus statutory public holidays.
● Pension – The post holder will have the option of joining a group pension scheme based on combined employer and employee contributions of at least 8%.

● Staff Development and Training – The successful candidate will receive an induction programme within the first month of appointment. Further training may be provided if appropriate and where there are resources.
