ELECTRICAL CONTRACTS SUPERVISOR
Location: Central Belt, Scotland
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: £44,000–£48,000 per year, dependent on experience
Valley Group is looking for an experienced Electrical Contracts Supervisor to support the delivery of electrical contracts throughout Scotland’s Central Belt.
This is primarily a supervisory position; however, the successful candidate must be willing and able to work on the tools when operationally required. Applicants must have strong domestic rewire experience and be confident supervising teams delivering rewires, electrical upgrades, testing, inspection and remedial works within occupied and unoccupied properties.
THE ROLE
You will supervise electricians, apprentices and subcontractors across multiple contracts, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required technical standard.
The position will also involve completing or assisting with electrical work when required—for example, supporting domestic rewire programmes, resolving technical issues, assisting with urgent workloads and helping ensure programme deadlines are achieved.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervising electricians, apprentices and subcontractors across multiple sites
- Planning and allocating daily and weekly workloads
- Supervising domestic rewires within occupied and unoccupied properties
- Monitoring productivity, quality, job progress and completion dates
- Carrying out site visits, inspections and quality audits
- Reviewing electrical certification and ensuring it is accurate and complete
- Ensuring work complies with BS 7671 and relevant statutory requirements
- Supporting EICR, remedial, installation, maintenance and rewire programmes
- Providing practical technical support to engineers on site
- Working on the tools when operationally required
- Carrying out or assisting with electrical installation, testing and remedial work
- Identifying defects and arranging or completing corrective action
- Ensuring engineers have the necessary information, materials and site access
- Conducting toolbox talks, site inductions and safety briefings
- Assisting with risk assessments and method statements
- Monitoring health and safety compliance across assigned sites
- Liaising professionally with clients, tenants and other stakeholders
- Supporting contract managers with labour planning and contract performance
- Ensuring jobs and certification are updated accurately within company systems
- Participating in the company’s on-call rota when required
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Time-served electrician with a recognised electrical apprenticeship
- Current BS 7671 18th Edition qualification
- City & Guilds 2391 or an equivalent inspection and testing qualification
- Significant practical experience completing domestic rewires
- Experience working within occupied domestic properties
- Previous electrical supervisory, working-supervisor or lead-electrician experience
- Strong knowledge of electrical installations, testing and certification
- Ability to review electrical certificates and identify technical issues
- Willingness and ability to work on the tools when required
- Good knowledge of health and safety requirements
- Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple sites and competing priorities
- Full UK driving licence
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
- SSSTS, SMSTS or equivalent supervisory qualification
- ECS Gold Card or relevant grading card
- Experience delivering social-housing rewire and electrical compliance programmes
- Experience managing occupied-property works and tenant liaison
- Experience delivering EICR and associated remedial programmes
- Experience using electronic job-management and certification systems
