A friendly and welcoming 2-form entry primary school in the SN3 area of Swindon is seeking a caring and adaptable KS1 Teacher to join their supportive team on a 12-month maternity cover. This is a warm school community where staff work closely together and children are given a strong foundation in their early years of learning.

The Role
You will be working as a KS1 Teacher, teaching within Key Stage 1, planning and delivering engaging lessons that support early learning and development. The KS1 team works closely together, with shared planning and strong collaboration between parallel classes, making this a well-supported role.
Key responsibilities include:
- Teaching across Key Stage 1
- Planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate lessons
- Supporting early literacy and numeracy development
- Creating a calm, positive, and nurturing classroom environment
- Managing behaviour through consistent routines and positive reinforcement
- Working closely with the KS1 team and teaching assistants
- Following school policies and safeguarding procedures
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a qualified KS1 Teacher who enjoys working with younger children and understands the importance of strong early learning foundations. You should feel confident delivering lessons that support phonics, early reading, writing, maths, and play-based learning.
The ideal teacher will be warm, patient, and nurturing, able to create a reassuring classroom atmosphere where children feel safe to learn and grow. You should be comfortable adapting lessons to meet a range of learning needs and supporting children’s emotional and academic development.
Behaviour management in KS1 is centred around positive routines, clear expectations, and gentle guidance, and you should feel confident using these approaches. A collaborative mindset is essential, as you will work closely with other KS1 teachers and support staff.
