Technical Support – Solar PV & Battery Storage
About the Role
Wagner Renewables Ltd is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to join our growing renewable energy team.
This is a support-focused role centred around the development of domestic and commercial solar PV and battery storage systems. Working closely with customers, surveyors, installers and manufacturers, you will be responsible for producing accurate system designs, supporting project delivery and providing technical expertise throughout. A key part of this role will be supporting our projects team, and working with the technical Director to assist in the timely and smooth running of projects.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical aptitude, excellent attention to detail and a genuine interest in renewable energy technologies. Previous experience within the electrical sector is a must, whilst experience in construction or renewable energy would also be advantageous. Training will be provided on our design software and processes.
This role will be office based at our site in Sidlesham, just outside Chichester.
Key Responsibilities
- Design domestic and commercial solar PV and battery storage systems to meet customer requirements, industry standards and current regulations.
- Develop and support electrical schematic drawings and system layouts.
- Submit G98 / G99 / EUKP applications for upcoming projects.
- Review customer requirements, site information and survey data to create technically compliant solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and support to our sales, installation, and procurement teams.
- Coordinate with installation teams and colleagues to ensure equipment specifications and project requirements are accurately captured.
- Assist with on-site testing & fault investigation.
- Assist with site surveys and technical assessments where required.
- Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies, industry regulations and best practices.
- Represent Wagner Renewables at industry events, exhibitions and training sessions when required.
- Undertake ongoing professional development and technical training.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong IT skills.
- Practical experience in electrical installation.
- Electrical design or engineering environment.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, technical and electrical drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- A good standard of Maths and English.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Full driving licence
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience within the solar PV, battery storage or wider renewable energy sector.
- Previous experience designing domestic or commercial renewable energy systems.
- Knowledge of electrical schematics and single-line diagrams.
- Experience of commercial and industrial electrical installations.
- Experience using solar design software and proposal tools.
