Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Forklift Driver / Warehouse Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely handling, moving, loading, and unloading materials, while supporting day-to-day warehouse and yard operations.
A valid forklift licence and previous forklift operating experience are preferred but not necessary. Experience within the memorials, stone, granite, marble, construction materials, or heavy goods industry would be a great advantage, as the role may involve handling heavy, delicate, and high-value memorial products with care.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklift trucks safely and efficiently to load, unload, and move goods within the warehouse or yard.
- Carry out general warehouse and yard duties, including organising, stacking, and storing stock in designated areas.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, ensuring incoming and outgoing goods are handled correctly.
- Handle memorials, stone, granite, marble, and related products carefully to avoid damage.
- Support stock control by assisting with inventory checks and keeping stock areas organised.
- Conduct regular safety checks on forklift equipment and report any faults or issues promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organisation across the warehouse and yard.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, especially when handling heavy materials.
- Carry out manual handling and heavy lifting tasks safely, following correct procedures.
- Support the wider team with production, packing, loading, and general operational tasks when required.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Previous experience as a forklift driver, warehouse operative, yard worker, or similar role is preferred but not necessary.
- Valid forklift licence is preferred.
- Experience in the memorials, stone, granite, marble, construction materials, or heavy goods industry would be an advantage.
- Strong understanding of safe materials handling and warehouse safety procedures.
- Ability to carry out manual handling and heavy lifting safely.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
