Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Principal Transport Planner to join our established Bristol team.
You'll lead a varied portfolio of development and infrastructure projects across the private and public sectors, working with clients in residential, commercial, retail and energy. Our projects range from strategic new settlements to smaller-scale landowner developments.
The role combines technical leadership in transport planning and appraisal with responsibility for client relationships, project delivery and team development. You'll provide strategic direction across a wide range of schemes, while supporting business development initiatives and contributing to the continued growth of the team.
The Role
- Use professional judgement to develop effective and practical solutions
- Deliver Vision-Led Transport Assessments, Statements and Travel Plans
- Build client relationships and support fee proposals
- Lead client engagement with support from the wider team
- Manage project performance and profitability
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policy, legal and technical changes
- Mentor team members and provide technical guidance
You’ll collaborate with colleagues across Planning, Environmental and Engineering disciplines on impactful projects, with opportunities to work across the UK as part of a wider national team.

About You
- Extensive experience delivering UK transport planning projects within a consultancy or similar environment
- Relevant degree (or higher) and professional membership (e.g. MCIHT or similar)
- Strong project delivery, leadership and client management skills
- Proven stakeholder engagement and client development ability
- Technical expertise in transport planning and appraisal
- Experience with JUNCTIONS and LINSIG (desirable)
- Strong reporting and problem-solving skills
