Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Residential Support Worker to join our team, providing essential care and support to children and young people in a residential setting. This role involves creating a safe, nurturing environment where individuals can develop their skills, confidence, and independence. Duties
- Provide daily care and emotional support to children and young people, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Assist with the development and implementation of personalized care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Support children with their daily routines, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and recreational activities.
- Encourage positive behavior through consistent boundaries, encouragement, and appropriate discipline strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of individual progress, incidents, and activities in accordance with organizational policies.
- Facilitate communication between children, families, social workers, and other professionals involved in their care.
- Support educational and social development by engaging children in age-appropriate activities.
- Assist with transportation when required, including driving children to appointments or activities safely.
- Promote inclusive practices that respect diversity and individual preferences within the residential environment.
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people in a care or childcare setting is highly desirable.
- Valid driving license with the ability to drive safely and responsibly as part of the role.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, families, colleagues, and external professionals.
- Knowledge of child development principles and experience developing or following care plans.
- Ability to work flexibly across shifts, including evenings, weekends, or sleep-in duties if necessary.
- Proficiency in IT systems for record keeping and reporting purposes.
- Compassionate attitude with excellent interpersonal skills and patience.
