Simmal Ltd is a family-run aluminium and engineering materials stockholding and processing business based in Preston. We supply products to manufacturing companies across the UK and Europe.
We are looking to recruit an Office Administrator to join our team, providing accurate and timely administrative support across the business. The role supports the sales, purchasing, operations and finance teams by keeping customer, supplier and internal information organised, up to date and available when needed.

Responsibilities
- Answer incoming telephone calls, take clear messages and direct enquiries to the appropriate person.
- Manage incoming and outgoing email and general office correspondence.
- Enter and maintain accurate information on company systems, spreadsheets and shared files.
- Support sales administration, including creating customer records, issuing documents and following up information required to process enquiries or orders.
- Assist with purchasing and supplier administration, including filing supplier documents and maintaining records as required.
- Support the operations team with administrative tasks connected to orders, delivery schedules and production paperwork.
- Maintain electronic and paper filing systems so documents can be retrieved easily.
- Handle personal, customer and commercial information confidentially and in line with company procedures.
- Carry out other reasonable administrative duties that support the effective running of the office.
Skills, behaviours and qualifications
- GCSE English and maths at grade 4/C or above, or equivalent practical experience.
- Clear and professional telephone, email and face-to-face communication.
- Able to enter and maintain information accurately and efficiently.
- Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Able to organise work, manage routine priorities and meet agreed deadlines.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Able to learn company systems and follow documented processes.
- Willing to ask questions when information is unclear rather than make assumptions.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work well as part of a close-knit team.
- Professional when dealing with customers, suppliers, visitors and colleagues.
- Respectful of confidential information.
