We’re looking for a Development Engineer to join our growing Engineering team and help deliver complex medical device products from customer scoping to production.
This is a varied, hands-on role offering the opportunity to work across different technologies and stages of the product development lifecycle. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Process Engineering and Service, as well as suppliers and customers, to develop practical, manufacturable and compliant solutions.
You’ll support product development, technical documentation, verification and validation, manufacturing transfer, problem-solving and lifecycle improvements within a regulated, quality-focused environment. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute ideas, improve ways of working and develop your technical experience as our business grows.
What you’ll be doing
- Support customer-led product development from initial scoping and requirements through design, risk assessment, verification, validation and manufacturing transfer.
- Work across a range of technologies, which may include mechanical design, materials, CAD, electromechanical systems, automation, manufacturing processes and test methods.
- Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Service, suppliers and customers to develop robust, manufacturable and compliant solutions.
- Create and maintain clear engineering documentation to support product development, technical decision-making and regulatory requirements.
- Use structured problem-solving and data to investigate technical challenges and support product and process improvements.
- Contribute to lifecycle improvements and the continued development of engineering processes and ways of working.
- Take ownership of agreed technical activities, with support and guidance from experienced engineering colleagues where required.
About you
We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working collaboratively and continuing to develop their engineering capability.
You’ll ideally bring:
- A degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Electrical Systems or a related discipline.
- Experience delivering products, systems or technologies into production, ideally within a regulated or quality-controlled environment.
- Practical product development, engineering or design experience.
- Experience using CAD software, ideally SOLIDWORKS.
- The ability to translate requirements, ideas and technical constraints into practical engineering solutions.
- A structured approach to problem-solving and good attention to detail.
- The ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with colleagues, customers and other stakeholders.
- A collaborative, adaptable and improvement-focused approach.
- A willingness to learn, take ownership of agreed activities and continue developing within the role.
Experience within medical devices, including Class II products, FDA/MDR requirements, verification, validation or manufacturing transfer, would be advantageous, but isn’t essential.
If you have relevant engineering experience and believe your skills could transfer to this role, we’d be interested in hearing from you.
