Greenspan designs and delivers construction projects for leisure attractions across the world, working with clients from concept through to completion. As the business continues to grow, we're looking to strengthen our finance function with an experienced Financial Manager/Controller who can take ownership of day-to-day finance and help build the systems and controls to support our next stage of growth.
The Role
We're looking for a part or fully qualified Financial Manager/Controller to join our finance team, reporting directly to the CFO. This is a hands-on, all-round finance role rather than a purely reporting position — you'll have genuine ownership of the trial balance and project/contract accounting, while also line-managing our Accounts/Accounts Payable Assistant. It's a great opportunity for someone who wants broad exposure and real influence in a growing business, working closely with the CFO and senior team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts TB
- Own the month-end and year-end close process
- Prepare budgets, forecasts and variance analysis to support the CFO and wider business
- Oversee project/contract accounting, including job costing across live construction contracts
- Day-to-day banking relationships
- Ensure compliance with VAT & CIS (Construction Industry Scheme)
- Liaise with external accountants/auditors on statutory accounts and the annual audit
- Line-manage and develop the Accounts/AP Assistant, ensuring accurate and timely processing of the purchase ledger
- Maintain and strengthen financial controls, systems and processes as the business scales
- Business partner with the CFO, operations and project teams, providing financial insight to support decision-making
About You
- Part or fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) — study support provided for part-qualified candidates
- Proven experience in a Financial Manager, Financial Controller or similar role, ideally within construction, contracting, engineering or another project-based business
- CIS and VAT experience
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with hands-on experience of management accounts
- Confident managing and developing a junior team member
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP software (currently moving to a new system)
- A proactive, hands-on approach and comfortable operating in a fast-paced SME environment
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to business partner with non-finance stakeholders
- Based within a commutable distance of Andover, Hampshire, and able to work full-time from the office
