Job Overview
Cost Cutters UK part of Seated Furniture Ltd is looking for a commercially minded Category Manager to take ownership of key product categories across our ecommerce business.
The role will focus on category performance, product optimisation, supplier management, pricing, competitor analysis and marketing growth.
You will be responsible for ensuring your categories are commercially competitive, well presented online and continually developed in line with customer demand and market trends.
Experience or an interest in office, workplace, hospitality or commercial furniture would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop assigned product categories to improve performance and profitability.
- Review category data to identify trends, opportunities, best sellers and underperforming products.
- Optimise product listings including descriptions, specifications, imagery, categorisation and pricing.
- Maintain high standards of online merchandising and product presentation.
- Support new product introductions and ensure listings are fully optimised before launch.
- Monitor competitor ranges, pricing, promotions and market activity.
- Review pricing and margins to ensure products remain competitive and commercially viable.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Negotiate pricing, promotional support and improved commercial terms where appropriate.
- Monitor supplier performance and address recurring service or delivery issues.
- Ensure supplier product data, imagery and pricing information is accurate and up to date.
- Identify gaps within existing ranges and opportunities for new products or suppliers.
- Develop category-specific marketing and promotional strategies.
- Work with the Marketing team to identify priority products, ranges and seasonal opportunities.
- Maintain accurate product data across ecommerce systems.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in category management, ecommerce, online merchandising, buying or product management.
- Strong commercial awareness and confidence working with pricing and margin.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and ability to analyse product and performance data.
- Experience with Magento or a similar ecommerce platform would be advantageous.
- Strong supplier relationship and negotiation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.
- Confident analysing competitor and market activity.
- Proactive, commercially curious and comfortable taking ownership of a category.
