An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Assistant to join New Spenser Ward , a 20-bedded acute inpatient assessment unit for older adults based at St Peter’s Hospital Campus, Chertsey .

We provide holistic assessment, treatment and support for older adults experiencing functional mental health illnesses, helping them achieve the best possible outcomes.
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring that service user's needs are met.
We are looking for a compassionate, motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills, a flexible approach to work, and a genuine passion for caring for older adults. You will be an effective team player who is committed to delivering outstanding care and supporting the achievement of ward and organisational objectives.
The successful candidate will participate in team meetings, training and development opportunities, and ongoing learning activities to ensure their skills and knowledge remain up to date. In return, you will be supported by an experienced and welcoming team and have the opportunity to develop your career within a specialist older adults’ mental health service.
To provide care for people who use our services as planned in Multi – disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings
To be aware of and work to the principles of the Mental Health Act (MHA)
To give and receive clear messages by telephone and or personal contact
To provide the necessary physical care to people who use our services to help them complete daily living activities i.e. personal hygiene, diet and fluid intake, clothing and laundry, personal environment, elimination, maintaining rest and sleep and activity, physical observations
To contribute in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluating care
To create and maintain professional supportive relationships with all members of staff with other professionals and agencies to enhance recovery
To provide escort duties to people who use our services under the direction of the nurse in charge.

New Spenser ward is a busy unit, the friendly and enthusiastic team aim to provide a holistic assessment and treatment for older adults, suffering from functional illness. New Spenser ward is based in Chertsey (St Peters Hospital Campus).
The position of the healthcare assistant is to ensure that service user’s needs are met and to assist team in maintaining high standards of care delivery. We are looking for candidates with good communication skills, a flexible approach and enthusiasm to work within the team. Candidate will assist team to develop and achieve ward and organizational objectives. Candidate will participate in staff meetings and training and development activities as necessary to ensure their skills and knowledge are up to date.
To be responsible & accountable for the assessment of clients and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.
To demonstrate clinical expertise and act as a positive role model. To act as an information resource to other members of the multi-disciplinary team. To liaise with all agencies involved in the care of clients within the unit.
