Overview
We’re on the lookout for a Senior Sous Chef to join our kitchen team at The Ashby.
This is a hands-on role for someone who knows their way around a busy kitchen, can lead from the front, and takes real pride in what they put on the plate. You’ll be working closely with our Head Chef to keep things running smoothly day-to-day, while helping push standards and support the team.
This is the perfect opportunity to put your stamp on a place with a brand new opening.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting the Head Chef with menus and keeping food quality high
- Leading the team during service and keeping everything running smoothly
- Making sure dishes go out consistently — good portions, good presentation, every time
- Helping organise prep and service so we stay efficient (and don’t waste product)
- Keeping on top of food safety and hygiene standards
- Assisting with stock control, ordering, and keeping things organised
- Training and supporting junior chefs to help them improve
- Keeping the kitchen clean, tidy, and a good place to work
- Playing your part in delivering a great experience for our guests
What we’re looking for
- Experience in a similar role or ready to step up
- Confident running the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef and supporting the team
- Calm under pressure — you can handle a busy service
- Good understanding of kitchen operations and food safety
- Someone who genuinely cares about the food going out
- A team player with a positive attitude
- Flexible with shifts (weekends and evenings included — it’s hospitality!)
The opportunity
We’re a busy, growing pub with a strong focus on food and a great team behind it. If you’re looking to progress and be part of something that’s moving forward, this is a great place to do it.
