This post within the Improving Population Health section of NHSGGC’s Public Health Directorate offers an exciting opportunity to provide strong strategic leadership and management to develop our community health portfolio, ensuring translation of national and local policy into a coherent local programme of work that creates healthy and sustainable places.
The post holder will also be expected to provide public health leadership and influence through professional networking at Health Board and HSCP/locality level including community planning partnerships. They will develop a delivery framework to support better collaborative working between the Health Board and planning authorities to improve health and reduce inequalities including the approach to Joint Strategic Needs Assessments development.
The role will lead the development and delivery of a complex and multifaceted programmes of public health work to develop and implement a ‘health lens approach’ that integrates the building blocks of heath and equity into decision making across all sectors. The post will ensure collaboration with partners and stakeholders including local authorities, HSCPs and local communities to consult, design, co-ordinate and develop a plan of activity to support the ambitions contained within the recently published Population Health Framework and Public Sector Reform Strategy. Key to this will be supporting the delivery of national and local Population Health priorities including local health needs and health impact assessments to inform the development and delivery of locality plans.
The post holder will prioritise, allocate and manage budgets and deploy staff to ensure successful completion of programme activities within available resources and timescales. Therefore, the ideal candidate will have experience of leading and motivating teams alongside public health expertise and extensive experience of strategic partnership working. Ensuring that clear objectives and performance management arrangements are in place, to meet the organisations needs and that continuous improvement, planning and excellent people management are effectively applied is critical.
