Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activities Coordinator to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a care home setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working within assisted living, nursing homes, or senior care environments, with a particular focus on dementia and Alzheimer's care. This role involves planning, organising, and facilitating a variety of recreational programmes aimed at enhancing residents' quality of life and promoting social interaction. The Activities Coordinator will play a vital role in fostering a warm, inclusive, and stimulating environment for our residents.
Duties
- Develop and implement a diverse programme of activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer's-specific activities
- Organise group outings, entertainment sessions, arts and crafts, music therapy, and other recreational events
- Foster social engagement by encouraging participation and building relationships with residents
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities align with individual care plans and safety protocols
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve activity offerings
- Assist in creating a welcoming environment that promotes independence, dignity, and well-being
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to ensure activities meet the needs of all individuals
- Keep activity areas safe, clean, organised, and well-equipped at all times
Experience
- Prior experience working within assisted living or nursing home environments is highly desirable
- Knowledge of senior care principles, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care
- Proven caregiving experience with older adults or individuals requiring specialised support such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with residents of varying cognitive abilities
- Experience in planning and delivering engaging activities that promote socialisation and mental stimulation
- Familiarity with care home policies and procedures related to resident safety and wellbeing
