Activity & Support Companion – Autism (PDA) (1:1 Community Role)
Location: Mitcham, South London (community-based role)
Hours: Guaranteed 12 hours per week. Flexible rota based on the individual’s needs and planned activities, Some days may start earlier, others later.
Rota agreed in advance where possible. Requires reliability and flexibility
Pay: £15.00 – £16.30 per hour (depending on experience)
Paid mileage (fuel costs covered on top of hourly rate)

About the Role This is a 1:1, community-based support role, not a traditional care position. There is:
- No multi-client work
- No high-pressure care environment
- Minimal / no personal care
The role focuses on building a consistent, trusting relationship while supporting an adult with autism (PDA profile) to develop independence, confidence, and engagement in everyday life.

Responds best to flexible, low-demand approaches
Key Responsibilities
Provide consistent 1:1 support in the community
Support independence, confidence, and daily living skills
Assist with errands (shopping, appointments, general tasks)
Plan and engage in meaningful activities and outings
Encourage autonomy and decision-making
Support emotional regulation using a calm and respectful approach
Build and maintain a strong, trusting working relationship
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Female candidate (due to individual preference and needs)
- Experience supporting individuals with autism or complex needs
- Understanding or experience of PDA
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Calm, patient, and emotionally aware
- Full UK driving licence
- Access to own vehicle (mileage paid)
- Reliable and consistent
Desirable (but not essential)
- Background in support work, SEN, psychology, or youth work
- Interest in community engagement, wellbeing, or personal development
