Job Description Outdoor Education Support Worker

Responsible to: Director / Service Manager
Job Purpose
The Outdoor Education Support Worker will support children and young people through structured outdoor learning, mentoring, and community-based activities.
The role focuses on engaging young people who may experience autism, learning difficulties, school disengagement, or emotional wellbeing challenges, helping them develop confidence, resilience, and life skills.
Through outdoor education and practical learning experiences, the post holder will support young people to work towards their individual learning goals and EHCP targets, while promoting positive behaviour, wellbeing, and engagement in education.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging outdoor learning sessions.
- Create lesson plans aligned with EHCP targets and individual learning needs.
- Deliver structured outdoor activities that promote confidence, teamwork, and resilience.
- Adapt learning approaches to support young people with SEND needs.
Youth Support & Mentoring
- Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
- Provide mentoring and emotional support to encourage positive behaviour.
- Support young people to develop life skills, independence, and self-confidence.
- Promote participation in activities that support personal development.
Progress Monitoring
- Track young people’s progress against learning goals and EHCP targets.
- Complete termly progress reports.
- Maintain clear and accurate records of support delivered.
- Contribute to reviews and discussions with professionals where required.
Community-Based Activities
- Support young people through community-based learning opportunities.
- Facilitate activities that encourage social interaction and engagement.
- Promote positive community experiences for young people.
Safeguarding & Wellbeing
- Promote the safety and wellbeing of young people at all times.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns promptly.
- Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to safeguarding policies.
Teamwork & Professional Practice
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner professionals.
- Participate in supervision, training, and team meetings.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of NextGen services.

Travel Requirements
This role involves working in community settings and outdoor environments.
The successful candidate must have:
- A full UK driving licence
- Access to a vehicle
- Business insurance for work-related travel

Pay: £24,420.00-£35,883.78 per year
