We are a busy country pub serving traditional homemade food and specials We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive kitchen experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional food and service. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee daily kitchen operations, support food preparation, and ensure the highest standards of food safety and quality are maintained. The successful applicant will play a vital role in maintaining the restaurant’s reputation for excellence while fostering a positive team environment.

Duties
- Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, including supervising kitchen staff and ensuring smooth workflow.
- Oversee food production, ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
- Support food preparation activities, including cooking, plating, and garnishing dishes in accordance with menu specifications.
- Manage team members by providing guidance, training, and mentorship to foster a cohesive and efficient work environment.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen.
- Assist in menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas for new dishes.
- Monitor inventory levels, assist with stock ordering, and minimise waste through efficient utilisation of ingredients.
- Serve as a role model for excellent hospitality standards, supporting front-of-house staff when required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a busy kitchen environment.
- Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Prior restaurant experience demonstrating proficiency in food safety standards and kitchen organisation.
- Strong leadership abilities with excellent team management skills.
- Knowledge of food production processes and hospitality operations.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Good understanding of serving procedures and customer service principles.
- Relevant qualifications in culinary arts or hospitality management are desirable but not essential. This position is an excellent opportunity for passionate culinary professionals eager to develop their leadership skills within a vibrant restaurant setting.
Pay: £25,500.00-£29,500.00 per year
