The role
Hobbledown Heath's Pumpkin Patch is a busy outdoor autumn event filled with pumpkin picking, seasonal games, photo moments, street food and atmospheric Pumpkin Nights. As a Pumpkin Patch Host, you'll be one of the first people guests meet and one of the key people keeping the experience looking magical, organised and commercially successful from opening through to close.
What you'll be doing
- Welcome guests warmly, explain how the patch works and answer questions about pumpkins, activities, pricing and facilities.
- Replenish and rotate pumpkins and seasonal stock, check product quality, and keep displays and photo points neat, full and inviting.
- Support retail sales, operate tills, process cash and card payments accurately, and confidently recommend or upsell seasonal products.
- Manage queues and guest flow, monitor how displays are used, and give friendly reminders about safety or display guidelines when needed.
- Help open, close and clean the patch; move pumpkins and equipment safely, remove damaged stock and report hazards or maintenance issues promptly.
What we're looking for
- A naturally friendly, confident and proactive person with clear communication and a genuine interest in creating a great guest experience.
- Reliable, punctual and calm in a fast-paced outdoor environment, including changing weather and busy family sessions.
- Commercial awareness and confidence approaching guests, making recommendations and handling payments accurately.
- Energy and stamina for standing, walking, bending and lifting, plus the flexibility to support the wider event team wherever needed.
Experience that helps (not essential)
Experience in retail, visitor attractions, festivals, garden centres, hospitality or customer service all translates well. Till work, stock handling or outdoor-event experience is useful, but attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn matter most.
