Job Title: Master Planner/Scheduler

Location: Onsite at manufacturing site – Sleaford, Lincolnshire
Work Times: 8:00am to 4:00pm (Monday to Friday). A degree of flexibility will be needed at peak periods.
Role Overview
SHD values its history of designing and manufacturing its own production equipment for advanced composite material manufacturing, delivering to highest calibre of customers across multiple sectors, from aerospace to motorsport, such as F1. The Master Planner/Scheduler will operate within SHD’s Engineering team, driving innovation to design new complex industrial machinery and processes as well as developing existing processes by upgrading with the latest technological advancements. This position collaborates within a team to apply advanced mechanical engineering knowledge with the integration of electrical and control systems to deliver bespoke designs to the highest standards. You will play a key role in shaping the variety and quality of SHD products, enhancing automation capability, leading problem‑solving activities, and supporting technical excellence across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinating our team of maintenance engineers and fitters for ensuring repairs and PPMs are acted on.
Manage and prioritise production repairs and actions for mechanical, electrical and controls tasks and ensure that standards and policies are maintained and with minimal downtime.
Collaborate with the Chief/Senior Design Engineer for distribute resources for new machine building, continuous improvements, installations and commissioning
Implement and maintain CMMS or internal maintenance systems.
Collaborate with maintenance engineers throughout all SHD sites to ensure production is able to operate with optimal efficiency.
Provide technical guidance and support.
Collaborate closely with Production, HSE, Quality and Engineering teams
Travel to other global sites to support with design, installation, commissioning and machine upgrade tasks.
Machine Build, Testing & Commissioning
Collaborate closely with the Chief/Senior Design Engineer and Innovation teams to coordinate manufacturing, assembly and commissioning of in-house developed equipment and improvements. Recommend potential upgrades and improvements that improve efficiency or improve quality that can be developed by our in-house design team.
Ensure that machines and improvements are build, tested and commissioned in a safe and timely manner.
Ensure that all new equipment has the appropriate PPMs and documentation for continued long term support.
Maintenance and Production
Work closely with production and quality to work proactively to reduce downtime and improve production efficiency to the best possible standards.
Participate in inspections and safety improvement initiatives.
Support root cause analysis for equipment failures and recurring issues.
Report and track repair progress on maintenance and installations globally.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Work closely with mechanical and electrical fitters, maintenance engineers, project managers, and production teams.
Skills & Experience Required
Advanced engineering qualification or equivalent experience
Experience in managing staff and projects (>5 years)
Experience in commissioning new installations and upgrades.
Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and controls systems.
Knowledge of implementing safety devices and guarding.
Willingness to travel to other sites.
