An exciting vacancy has been created within our Chester Area Highways team as part of the Transport and Highways service.
This vacancy is for a Grade 6 Highway Safety Inspector based in the Chester Area Highways Office and you will on occasions be asked to work from other offices around the Borough.

Your role will be to inspect highways against a scheduled programme, record dangerous defects that meet the threshold and raise jobs for our Term Maintenance Contractor to repair under section 58 of the Highways Act 1980.
Highway inspections entail visiting areas of our highway network in a works van and undertaking inspections either on foot or driven in all weather conditions across the borough of Cheshire West and Chester.
You will be given a Council van and be out of the office each day carrying out your inspections of the highway.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual with excellent observation skills who is conscientious. The role requires good time management skills, an ability to work on your own initiative and support the team in meeting tight deadlines.
The contractual work location for this role will be the Area Highways Office in Guilden Sutton near Chester. The role is flexible, and this means that the successful candidate may be required to work from a range of work locations within the Borough but predominantly from the the Chester and Winsford Offices.
