Cake or Dice is looking for a confident kitchen volunteer to help us prepare and serve food in our community café.
This role would suit someone who already enjoys cooking and feels comfortable working in a kitchen. You do not need to be a qualified chef, but some previous kitchen, catering or strong home cooking experience would be helpful.
You will be helping with things such as:
- Preparing ingredients and menu items
- Cooking and putting together customer orders
- Keeping the kitchen clean and organised
- Following our food hygiene and allergen procedures
- Letting the team know when ingredients are running low
- Helping the kitchen run smoothly during service
We are looking for someone who is:
- Confident and comfortable in the kitchen
- Able to follow recipes and instructions
- Calm, reliable and well organised
- Friendly and happy to work as part of a team
- Comfortable managing several simple tasks at once
You will be shown how our kitchen works, including our menu, equipment and food safety procedures. We are mainly looking for someone who already has the basic kitchen skills and would only need a short introduction to how we do things at Cake or Dice.
We are hoping to welcome someone into the role from the second week of August.
Volunteering sessions can be arranged around your availability. This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity, and agreed out of pocket expenses can be reimbursed.
If you enjoy cooking and would like to use your skills to support a welcoming community café, we would be pleased to hear from you.
