Title: Facilities maintenance caretaker
Role
To maintain the site, facilities, and machine shop in a safe, clean, and well-presented condition, ensuring good housekeeping standards, timely completion of general maintenance tasks, and effective management of machine shop preventative maintenance tasks. The role supports production by keeping the working environment organised, compliant, and free from hazards as well as up lifting the site with continuous improvement in mind.

Key Responsibilities
Site & Facilities Maintenance
- Cleaning of communal areas including canteens, toilets and walkways.
- Carry out general building maintenance including basic carpentry, painting, patch repairs, doors, locks, flooring
- Maintain lighting, heating, ventilation, and compressed air systems.
- Ensure external areas (yards, walkways, drains, car parks) are safe, tidy, and well maintained.
- Carry out seasonal tasks such as gritting, basic landscaping, and weather-related checks.
Machine Shop Housekeeping & Support
- Clean machine enclosures, floors, and surrounding areas.
- Remove and dispose of swarf in accordance with site procedures.
- Empty, clean, and refill coolant tanks as instructed.
- Maintain swarf bins, drip trays, and waste containers.
- Keep walkways and work areas free from obstruction.
Preventative & Routine Tasks
- Complete scheduled housekeeping and inspection routines.
- Report issues, leaks, or abnormal conditions to engineering or supervision.
- Record work completed where required.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
- Follow risk assessments, method statements, and site procedures.
- Use PPE correctly.
- Report hazards, near misses, and incidents.
General Duties
- Manage small site improvement tasks.
- Assist with basic site moves and clear-outs.
- Order consumables when authorised.
- Liaise with external contractors where required.
- Carry out other reasonable tasks in support of site operations.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience in a maintenance, caretaker, or industrial cleaning role.
- Good practical ability with hand tools and cleaning equipment.
- Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Awareness of COSHH and safe waste handling.

Pay: £13.00-£14.00 per hour
