Senior Lecturer in Law (Education and Research)
This full-time, permanent post will commence on 1st January 2027 (or earlier date by agreement).
The starting salary will be from £51,753 up to £67,468 on Grade G, depending on knowledge, skills and experience.
The Role
We are seeking to appoint a new Senior Lecturer in Law (E&R) to support the growth of our research at the University of Exeter's Penryn campus in an area related or complementary to our existing research strengths in environmental law. We are especially interested in hearing from you if you can also offer teaching in at least one core undergraduate subject identified below where delivery is done as part of a team; Legal Foundations, Contract, Criminal Law, Torts, Constitutional, EU & Human Rights. The ability to support a current optional module being Environmental law, Employment Law, Corporate Law Theory & Governance, Corporate Finance or Business & Human Rights would also be a benefit.
The successful candidate will join a thriving and dynamic law programme, based at our Penryn campus in Cornwall. Our offering to students in Cornwall is unique; our law degrees form part of a portfolio of programmes run in collaboration with our Business School, namely the LLB Law with Business and BBL Bachelor of Business with Laws. We also have plans to expand delivery to new inter-disciplinary programmes. Our pedagogical approach is different from many traditional law schools, with a much stronger focus on experiential learning. This includes significant amounts of small group task-based working and research projects as part of the curriculum.
About you
For a Senior Lecturer post you will have:
- A PhD or equivalent in Law or a related discipline;
- An independent research programme in a relevant active field of research, with an emerging international reputation;
- Enthusiasm for delivering high-quality undergraduate programmes and proven ability to deliver effective teaching and student support;
- Potential to engage with impact-generating or knowledge exchange activities outside the HE sector;
- Strong potential for research leadership;
- A track record of high-quality refereed publications and success in research grant capture
