Accounts Manager role - shape a new office
A well-established, independently owned accountancy practice - with multiple offices and around 15 members of staff - has recently expanded with a new site near Rugby, and they're building it out properly.
That means bringing in someone who can anchor the office, own a growing client portfolio, and eventually help shape what this location becomes.
It's not a corporate machine. It's a firm with genuine ambition, the infrastructure to back it up, and enough flexibility to let good people thrive.
What you'll be doing
- Owning and growing a client portfolio - starting around £200K and building towards £500K fees under management
- Delivering a high standard of accounts work across a varied client base, predominantly owner-managed businesses and SMEs
- Reviewing and signing off work prepared by your team, including one direct report and offshore resource
- Acting as the senior client-facing presence for the office — managing relationships, fielding queries, and providing practical commercial advice
- Playing an active role in how this office develops as the firm grows
About you
- ICAEW or ACCA qualified (essential)
- Solid grounding in accounts preparation and review - you know your way around a set of accounts and the clients behind them
- Experienced in managing client relationships directly, with the confidence to be the main point of contact
- Comfortable leading a small team and delegating effectively, including to remote resource
- Commercially minded and motivated by ownership — this is a role for someone who wants to build, not just maintain
Salary
£48,000 – £55,000Dependent on experience. The firm will move to meet the right candidate.
Why this one?
Independent firms at this stage of growth can be rare finds. The politics are minimal, the routes to influence are real, and you'd be joining at precisely the right moment — before the shape of the office is set. If you've been waiting for a role where your contribution actually registers, this is worth a conversation.
Pay: £48,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
