Due to our fabulous Assistant Pub Manager landing his dream acting job, we are on the hunt for his replacement. We are looking for someone to join us initially till the end of the year, with the potential for a permanent contract from March 2027, after our winter closure. This might be perfect if you're looking to go travelling in January/February! You'll be contracted to a minimum of 30 hours a week.
The Bull is a small 17th century pub in Great Milton in South Oxfordshire. A community pub for a decade, we entered private ownership 3 years ago, and are now in the process of renovating to bring it into the 21st century. We're keen to provide something for everyone - we host food pop ups, plus cook out of our own kitchen, we host quiz nights, monthly live music, vintage & classic car nights and village events. We've got a glorious beer garden, but are cosy with an open fire in winter.
The perfect candidate will have a deep love for pubs and hospitality, and see us for what we are - more than just a watering hole, but the beating heart of the local community. You'll be the sort of person who is warm and friendly with everyone, from the minute they walk in the door till the minute they leave. We're a small team, and it's important to us that we find someone who complements the rest of the team, in terms of personality and skill set. We're a business that's growing year on year, but still goes through its quiet patches - if you thrive off super fast-paced service every day, we might not be for you. If you're happy adapting to each day, keeping yourself going when it's quiet and ramping up when it's hectic, the role will be perfect for you!
The person we're looking for:
- 5+ years in hospitality (preferably pubs)
- Great attention to detail & cleanliness
- Warm, friendly attitude
- A strong understanding of licensing law & responsibilities
- Ideally cellar trained with experience of looking after cask ales, but this can be provided
